Ordering a made-to-order falconry hood starts with information about your bird. Here is what to prepare before choosing an AO hood.
What information does AO need?
- Species: give the bird’s species; if it is a hybrid, include the parent species if known.
- Sex: tell us whether the bird is male or female.
- Weight: provide its current weight and include the unit, such as grams or ounces.
If your bird already wears a hood, add the maker and size as a reference. That reference helps us understand what you are using; it does not mean every hoodmaker’s size numbers are interchangeable.
Compare AO hood designs
Anglo-Indian: Classic, Signature and Blaze
- Classic: one-piece construction with an open closure and a rounded top knot.
- Signature: one-piece main body, redesigned front panel, tone-matched AO hot stamp and hand-braided top ornament.
- Blaze: the Anglo-Indian design in AO’s Blaze colorway, with kip or kangaroo leather and Traditional or Arab Closure options.
Dutch: three-piece construction
Dutch Hood combines two side panels and a center panel. Choose the base leather and closure shown on the product page. Selected Dutch models offer decorative leather finishes; check each listing for its own species and size restrictions.
Khan and Slip-On: dedicated hawk designs
Khan AO is a one-piece, vegetable-tanned leather hood designed for hawks. Slip-On Hood is a separate one-piece design offered for medium-sized birds, from female Cooper’s Hawks through female Red-tailed Hawks. Eagle versions are separate products.
For eagles
Compare Eagle Khan AO with Eagle Anglo-Indian Open-Nape. The Open-Nape design provides additional clearance for prominent nape and crest feathers. Start with a dedicated eagle model and contact us about the individual bird’s fit.
Leather and closure options
Choose only from the configurations offered on the model’s page. A decorative finish is not a size guide, and size numbers from different hoodmakers are not interchangeable. Stingray Premium Hood, for example, offers Syrian and Dutch model options; select the model as well as the closure.

Made-to-order production and shipping
Allow 1–2 weeks for production before shipping on made-to-order hoods. Carrier transit time is additional. The production period is not a promise that the parcel will arrive within 1–2 weeks. Review the product’s lead-time notice before adding it to your cart.
How AO Archive differs
AO Archive hoods are already made and are offered in the fixed size stated on each listing. They are not made to your bird’s measurements. AO Archive is not sold or shipped to Mexico. Check the listed size and contact us if you need help assessing a piece before ordering.
